An interesting and well done article on the philosophy that underlies the success of Robert Schuler’s ministry and how things are going to work out under his son, who has now formally taken over the ministry from his father.

Gee. That’s not ministry. It’s empire.
What is it about mega-preachers and passing the torch to–or sharing it with–family? Wives who are practically co-pastors and sons who inherit the mantle.
Nothing personal, I guess. Just business. The Empire Business.

Well, will the “torch” light the way of eternal life in Christ alone or will it be more of the same old, “positive thinking” baloney??!!

We are witnessing the passing of the first generation of mega-churches built around a single personality. Oral Roberts, Robert Schuller, etc. I don’t expect these personality papacies to continue for very long.
One of the most pathetic is the empire of the wacky Gene Scott which is being run by his even wackier third wife Melissa after his death.
