If you Love the Festival of Corpus Christi, This Site Might Be For You
Love the Festival of Corpus Christi? Want to see it in the Lutheran Church? I have the perfect web site for you!
And get a load of these testimonies:
I know that this will sound crazy, but I guess I should start from the beginning. Tonight was the first time I prayed my rosary in front of Jesus online. Right after I finished saying the rosary. I saw a distinct face. I can still see his eyes, crown of thorns, nose and beard. I cannot explain it, but I guess he must be very
pleased with your work. I am not crazy. I do go adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in person where I live, but just wanted to pray in front of him at home tonight on your site rather than not adoring him at all. When I came to write to you I still saw his face. I will be telling many other people about what a blessing
your site is to all around the world.
Love in Christ,
Cindy from Alabama
I am a soldier at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and I have been praying for an answer to my need to have access to the Blessed
Sacrament in my home. It has always been my dream to live with the Lord in my home, and now it is possible to experience his presence each day because of this unique ministry. I don’t know how I can help your organization flourish other than to offer my prayers. I’m not a wealthy man, but I love God and thank you for putting this ministry together for Him. Amen.

That’s funny – I’ve got javascript disabled on purpose, and I couldn’t see anything. Perhaps Javascript is the equivalent of Pietism, and should be avoided ; )

McCain: No Java, No Jesus.
Classy. We’ve gone from debating whether or not to retain Corpus Christi (a discussion worth having) to mocking the testimonies of sincere Catholics.
I believe it was Calvin who said “the mind is an idol factory.”
Its amazing at times to see what man will do with what God gives us. He gives us his body and blood in the sacrament, He has promised to be present there and we find away to turn it into idolatry, by worshipping the consecrated elements rather than receiving them. We’re never closer to Christ this side of heaven than in the Sarcament of the Altar, yet we look for more, for a greater feeling of closeness to Jesus.
Protestants do this too but here the idolization is of the Holy Spirit. This sometimes gets to the point worship becomes a dog and pony show were the Holy Sprit is supposed to show up and give us all an emotional high.
Could the corpus Christi festival be cleaned up and turned into a proper festival day? Can we eat the fish and spit out the bones? Maybe, but as one of my colleagues here in the Sandhills says “what good is that if the fish is spoiled to begin with?” Which I think is Rev. McCain’s point.
That is, are we talking about cleaning up a festival gone wrong, or are we talking about a festival that began with an error-and has gotten worse as time goes on? Or maybe that question is irrelevant–I’d like to hear from others on this.
Again, why bother with it? Is it to show that we’re better at being catholic than the Catholics? If you live in a community that is predominantly Catholic, should a Lutheran or a Presbyterian offer an alternative to the corpus Christi, or should they point out why we don’t do it at all? Do we really need another minor festival in the calendar? If so to what end?
