Note: the title is *not* my title, it is the newspapers’ title, and "queer" in this group’s view is a good thing. Don’t hold your breath waiting for the ELCA to remove from their fellowship any of their clergy or congregations doing this.

This is much worse than the article intimates. Ebeneezer “Church” is the home of herchurch.org, a neo-pagan abomination tolerated by the ***A (an organization which is not Evangelical, Lutheran, or a Church). The “pastor” of Christ Church Lutheran is Steve Sabin who was removed from the roster of ***A after he chose his male partner over his wife and two daughters. He did pose with his two daughters and partner under a banner portraying Christ giving a blessing in a gay advocacy magazine. Steve Sabin is ineligible to be pastor of an ***A congregation and the congregation should be disciplined. As I prepared to leave ***A, the parish I was serving asked to be able to keep me as their pastor. They were warned by the bishop that they would be disciplined if they did. He also assured them that the same policy would be applied to Steve Sabin. He continued to serve as a pastor of an ***A congregation in Ames, Iowa for several years thereafter and is now called to the San Francisco congregation. Everything is tolerated, except faithful Lutheran teaching and practice.

I was recently told by a Lutheran pastor from L.A. that LCMS churches in the Santa Cruz area are surreptitiously blessing civil unions. I don’t know if it is true, but having lived in the Bay Area and been unable to find a confessional LCMS congregation, it wouldn’t surprise me either.
McCain: If in fact you come across definitive proof of this accusation, then it must be brought immediately to the attention of the district president. I do not believe any of our Synod’s leaders would “bless” any such activity.
