Concordia: The Photo
January 16th, 2007
A thing of beauty is a joy forever, don’t you agree? And, I had a thought. Wouldn’t you also agree that nothing says, "I love you" more than a copy of Concordia: The Lutheran Confessions as a Valentine’s Day gift? Beat the rush, order now.

I received 3 second-editions in the mail today! VERY nice!!!
I received my copy today! Fantastic!
I have decided to use the “Concordia” as my main study edition. I’ve used them all in Confessions study — I mean literally, all of them laid out on the table at the same time, including the BKS, with my antique German dictionary next to the BKS and my Latin dictionary next to my Triglotta. I studied the entire BOC this way over the past couple years once every month with the additional pleasure of all the comments and discussions of Michigan’s best Confessional pastors in our Confessions study group. We always compared all our translations when questions came up. It is my experienced opinion that this Second Edition is simply the best English translation out there. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to use my others during intense study. I’m simply in total agreement that Concordia is the “Readers’ Edition.” When I’m reading (privately or in the study group) I intend to limit myself to this excellent translation with all its resources. For that reason, thanks especially for the double numbering of the Apology Article V (III)! That’s the Article we’re currently on in our study and it was really difficult this month! It will be much smoother (for me at least) next month.
Erich
Paul:
Are congregations getting a free copy of the second edition like we did the first go around?
We’re going to order some, but I am curious.
Also, one of my folks asked if the genuine leather cover is really worth the increased cost (ie the quality of the hides). Have you seen, felt, sniffed the leather copies yet?
McCain: No, a free copy of the second edition will not be sent to every congregation. I’m a little bit amused by your next question. What answer do you expect me to give? “Nah, they aren’t worth it, don’t bother!” I believe they are worth it, but some people won’t. That’s why we offer the hardback, the bonded leather and the genuine leather in its own permanent slip case. I’m looking forward to them.
I’ve had mine on back order for months, and am encouraged that others are getting it in the mail. Hopefully it will come my way soon!
