Funny how you find things out that have been going on for quite some time. I did not know until just now that you can subscribe to a service that will deliver to you, each week, an electronic copy of readings from the Book of Concord tailored edited to fit with the appointed readings in the lectionary for the Sunday coming up. No, sorry, they are not for the one year lectionary. Check out this link.

Check it out!

(Anyone who wants to see this also for the one year series, please….pitch in and give Pastor May a hand! He would love the help to get this also for this historic lectionary).

I have been using this since my arrival at my first parish. I think it is vitally important to keep the Confessions on people’s minds and in front of their faces, as well as to teach them, preach them, etc. Growing up Lutheran, I never heard of the Confessions, but I have grown to love them and cherish them.

It’s always fun to realize what you don’t know even exists. I’m grateful for all the work Pastor May has put into these web resources. I’d love to see somebody prepare a similar weekly readings of the Confessions for the historic lectionary. I just don’t have the time to do it, and understandably, Pastor May has done far more than his fair share.

no need to “re-invent the wheel” entirely for BoC readings corresponding to the Historic Lectionary. Enough of the One Year texts can be found in the three year. For instance, this week in the three year is Luke 17:11f, the healing of the ten lepers, which historically is assigned to Trinity 14. After connecting all the other dots, simply fill in the historic Sundays that remain. But this takes time…
