As if the Lutheran blogosphere needed a new blog site, I’ve started one anyway. It is not really a "blog" in the traditional sense of that term. It is devoted to one thing, and one thing only: the Cranach altar painting in Weimar, Germany. I’ve gathered a number of resources on this painting, and on the art of Lucas Cranach and the subject of Lutheran Reformation art in general, and I’ll be sharing what my research has turned up, as well as offering specific comments on this painting. If you find it useful, feel free to mention this new blog site on your blogs. I wanted a place on the Internet to showcase this magnificent painting precisely for the sake of what it is all about: Christ and His Gospel. So, come on over and pay a visit to this new blog site.

Many years ago the Holy Ghost impressed me with Jesus Healing Blind Bartimaeus, sitting by the roadside. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” And they called the blind man, saying to him, “Take heart. Get up; he is calling you.” And throwing off his cloak, he sprang up and came to Jesus. And Jesus said to him, “What do you want me to do for you?” And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.”And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately Jesus recovered his sight and followed Christ on the way. It could be that Bartimaeus was there at the cross,to witness one of the soldiers pierce God’s side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. There to be given first sight of Communion & Baptism. Speaking on a mor personal level, I believe I know how the woman felt seeing Jesus that day. Not long ago my husband layed in a hospital bed with drainage coming out of his lungs through a cut in his side. As he layed lifeless there it became all so clear to me that the Holy Ghost was giving me new vission, He was opening my eyes to a great many things that I had been reading in the Bible. I was there with my Husband but the sight of water and blood coming out of my husband served to remind me of our Lord Jesus.
