Reader: Who Art Thou? Introduce Yourself and Say Hello

OK, so Pastor Weedon started this. He occasionally will ask for a "radio check" to see who is listening/reading out there. I thought it would be fun to do the same. Looking at the last 365 days, I see that Cyberbrethren had 605,000 page loads and 362,000 unique visitors. So, if you are a reader of this blog site, it is time to come out of lurk mode for a moment and say hello. Where are you? Who are you? What do you do? Let’s hear a bit from the Cyberbrethren reading community. Thanks for reading! I’m looking forward to hearing from readers and getting to know you.

    Pastor McCain,
I am a lawyer in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. I’ve been visiting your site for quite some time and enjoy it very much. I am blessed to attend a confessional church in Sheboygan with two wondeful confessional pastors. Keep up the excellent work on your blog.

I’m Liz K. from the Minneapolis area. I grew up in the EFCA and converted to Confessional Lutheranism. Reading theology is a hobby of mine. As an occupation, I conduct labor market research in regards to the costs of wages, salaries, and benefits. As a vocation, I am a wife of a soldier in the National Guard and an expectant mother.

    My
wife and I were life-long Lutherans in the ELCA until recently when we
moved. When we looked for a new Lutheran church, we found a very
confessional church in the Missouri Synod in our new area. The Pastor
of this church renewed our interest in Lutheran Theology.

Hi, Paul. Checking on you for about two years as our congregation got the LSB and attendant books. Also, I have a number of former Calvinists and use your sight as reference for TULIP and such.

I’m a Roman Catholic from Texas, I’ve been reading your blog for a few weeks. I appreciate the seriousness with which you take history and doctrine. I feel that confessional Lutheranism offers points that must be considered, in contrast to “non-denominational” groups whose “doctrine” amounts to emotion.

I’m Michael Paul, ’96 CSL MDiv grad, currently trying to make progress on my dissertation for a Doctrinal Theology PhD from CSL, residing in Chiayi City, Taiwan, living next door to my wife’s parents (who are not yet Christian). My first call was from the mission board to serve as an evangelistic missionary to Macau, and then Taiwan, which service began in 1996 and ended in 2003 when I was cut with 20-some other missionaries.

I am a husband of one, father of three (including a set of twins born 8 days ago). Raised in charismatic evangelicalism, I was “turned on” to Reformational thinking through the ministry of (Calvinist) Dr. R.C. Sproul. I joined an LCMS congregation thinking that it was theologically “close enough” to the Reformed Theology I was professing at the time (and also because my cousin was a member there). Unfortunately my catechesis did little or nothing to persuade me that Calvinism and Lutheranism are significantly different, and I joined the church as a Calvinist in Lutheran garb. A friend at church introduced me to Issues Etc. and I began reading the Lutheran Confessions more earnestly. I am genuinely Lutheran now, loving this church’s Christ-centered, cross-focused confession more and more every day. I have been blogging for a couple of years, and you have visited my site a time or two. You even left a (welcome) contrary perspective in the comments once. Thanks for the great work you do on Cyberbrethren. -Eric Matthaei, Irving, Texas

    Hi Pastor.
I’m an adult convert to Lutheranism(married ELCA). We were invited to attend a service at an LCMS congregation in Minot, ND and we both were surprised by the warmth and friendliness of the members of this congregation. The Christ centered doctrines of the LCMS have been a blessing to our family. I greatly appreciate the quality of Pastoral leadership that comes out of the LCMS seminary and how great a role lay leadership plays within the LCMS congregations.
Thank you for your efforts on this blog.

John and Jenn Wolf currently in Vegas soon to be in VA (in 55 days). John’s active duty Air Force and lifelong Lutheran – VERY well catechized in the Minneapolis/St Paul area of Wisconsin. ;)
Jenn homeschools the 3 munchkins technically a convert but I didn’t know I wasn’t Lutheran when I was a kid – we went every Christmas Eve. Now I’m solidifying my theology with blogs like yours and Issues Etc and reading fun books like Faith Founded on Fact by Dr Montgomery. :)
    Thanks for your work here!
