Is it possible to think of anything sad or depressing while listening to this? I don’t think so. I sure can’t. I’ll post two versions, the first is the “reel” version that became famous as a result of being used at the end of the movie Napoleon Dynamite, the second is the original version, which has a more ethereal quality

The Los Angeles Guitar Quartet has an interesting rendition of this piece on their “Air and Ground” CD. It’s a fun piece.

And you’re right, it’s pretty hard to be stay in a bad mood if you listen to that piece.

And here I thought Patrick Street invented that number. As an avid fan (and player) of Irish Trad, I of course prefer the first version
