Genuine Leather Editions of The Lutheran Study Bible: First Look!
August 12th, 2009
Black and Sangria [burgundy], genuine leather editions. Here you go! The paper inside these two books has not a word on it. Still a ways to go before we have finished books here, but…this is how the genuine leather covers are going to look. No, we are NOT releasing a Bible with blank pages, for the “do it yourself theology” crowd. If you want to place an order for The Lutheran Study Bible, please visit: cph.org/lutheranbible and you can find your way around the various editions and options. Looks good. Can’t wait to receive mine (and about 30 others).
I continue to be impressed with the many channels through which you have marketed this Bible, and how relentlessly. I continue to be excited about it and hope that I’m high enough on the waiting list to receive my copy without having to wait too long.
Only 11.5 weeks until the release date! I am simultaneously patiently-impatiently waiting to get my copy. I am getting the large print sangria genuine leather edition. I’m only 28 years old, but this is the Bible I want to grow with me, especially if my eyes grow tired and weak. With exception to a couple alternate translations, my Bibles, like the Concordia Self-Study Bible and ESV Study Bible, are going to get donated to one of those Bible outreach programs.
Pr. McCain,
I think I am going to have to turn you into the authorities for this torture… I think I would rather be water boarded than have to wait much longer for this study Bible.
Hmmm… I wonder if you could use that quote in your marketing materials? LOL
Just kidding of course.
The CS-SB looks wonderful. I can’t wait to touch my new bible. I love the feel of leather books. And thanks Josh for the suggestion of donating our old bibles!!
Are these “genuine leather” soft covers?
All leather editions [genuine and bonded] of The Lutheran Study Bible are soft covers. The regular editions, non-leather, are hardback books.
Thank you for the exact comparison of the regular print and the “larger” print copies of the new Bible – no doubt that for me the “larger” print Bible will be the one of choice. Genuine leather? Wow! I LOVE the smell of genuine leather. But it is the print inside that makes the difference for me! I hope the church at large will buy it and read, mark, and learn it!
How heavy are the large print, leather bound editions? Some of my elderly are concerned that it will be too heavy for them to use comfortably. Thanks.
@Tim Stout
The larger print editions are just under seven pounds. They are big, heavy books. Folks who think that this is too heavy for them might consider buying the regular print edition and buying the full page magnifier we offer as an accessory. See the promo kit for ordering information.
Does the full page magnifier also function as a Hermeneuti-Cool? (From The Lutheran Course Katie Lou and Winkie videos…) I would love to find one of those Hermeneuti-Cools. Katie Lou said they turn hard to understand Bible verses into easy to understand bullet points. What a great invention that would be, except there goes my job security as a Pastor…
I’ve seen those dreadful videos and I can only charitably assume they were produced while somebody was under the influence of something.
