Rev. Gaylin R. Schmeling, President of the ELS Seminary, Praises The Lutheran Study Bible
September 28th, 2009
“Both lay and clergy alike will make good use of the copious study notes, maps, charts, cross-references, and articles included in The Lutheran Study Bible. I appreciate the attention paid to the writings of the church fathers, which preserve this important part of our heritage. This is an excellent study Bible following in the tradition of the Weimar Bible, the study Bible of 17th century Lutheranism. It will be a valuable addition to every personal Library.”
Rev. Gaylin R. Schmeling, President
Bethany Lutheran Theological Seminary

Glad to see that an ELS rep has addressed The Lutheran Study Bible. Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato is a great little Lutheran school.
By the way, Bethany has a great music program there, very notably Prof. Dennis Marzolf.
I believe that a couple of pastors at Bethany contributed to The Lutheran
Study Bible.
Rev. McCain?
I will admit I do not read every comment in this good blog so maybe the WELS has commented already but if not please know this WELS teacher truly appreciates The Lutheran Study Bible. Besides all the good things that have been said about it, for me it gave me that extra spark to reading my Bible again and renewed joy in preparing for my lessons with the students. In fact, the students and I learned and sang the new hymn written for its publication. Besides, I used to know President Schmeling through connections his son had with our daughter at one time.
