What is the definition of a “ministry”? Having seen some of the oddball spending/activities that megachurches engage in (and choose to call “ministries”), apparently a “ministry” can be defined in the following way:
Ministry (noun): absolutely any expenditure of money or energy that a congregational body engages in. Examples: “I have a sock-puppet ministry that the church supports.” “I get $100 a month to run a diaper-changing ministry at the church’s child care service during Sunday services.” “The youth pastor runs a Chuck E. Cheese pizza ministry every other month.” Individuals who run such ministries are called, respectively, “sock-puppet ministers,” “diaper-changing ministers,” and “pizza-run ministers.”
