Cyberbrethren Back Up and Running
It came to my attention yesterday, and thanks to those of you who alerted me to this, that my blog site had been hacked. The hack resulted in some people seeing up a pop-up advertisement for some, let us say, unsavory web sites. Those whose browsers have functioning pop-up blockers were prevented from seeing them, others were not so fortunate. Apparently there was some kind of an exploit hack causing my main page to load the pop up. Thanks to Ryan Markel, the problem has been fixed. I apologize to anyone who had to see this, and I hope it won’t happen again. Thanks for your understanding and patience. Kudos to my hosting service, BlueHost.com for a very fast response to my problem and helping me put up a temporary “under construction” notice yesterday.

I’m guessing a Calvinist probably did it.
McCain response: Only one who was predestined by God to go to hell, I can tell you that!
Gee, I just thought maybe you had decided to change the direction you were going in with the blog.
Well, that’s one way of looking at it. : )
More seriously, there has been a major offensive recently against WordPress blogs in general. Anyone who saw that subverted page should assume their own computer has been compromised with all manner of bad stuff. (I recommend reformat and reinstall unless your antivirus software found something and cleaned it off.)
Since a major part of the offensive is brute force attacks on passwords, bloggers should change their passwords to something that appears random and has special characters. A Bible verse can do the trick if you use the first letter of each word and put the chapter and verse somewhere in the reference; e.g., FGslthwtHgHobS3:16. I use a completely random password myself.
