U.S. Atheists Reportedly Using Hair Dryers to ‘De-Baptize’

Published July 17, 2010

American atheists lined up to be “de-baptized” in a ritual using a hair dryer, according to a report Friday on U.S. late-night news program “Nightline.”

Leading atheist Edwin Kagin blasted his fellow non-believers with the hair dryer to symbolically dry up the holy water sprinkled on their heads in days past. The styling tool was emblazoned with a label reading “Reason and Truth.”

Well now, this is silly. If they feel the need to undo their baptism, they can hardly be true atheists. I think someone was looking to make a statement and get a little attention. The news media happily filled that need for them.

wonder what they do if you were fully immersed!

Oh well, I guess “he who does not believe will be condemned.”

How appropriate they’re attempting to de-baptized themselves with a ‘symbolic blast of hot air.’

I wonder, can someone be de-baptized?

The only thing I can think of is an excommunication. Perhaps that’s what they should be asking their churches for?

If they wanted a symbol that would be like a reverse of baptism, shouldn’t they have covered themselves head to toe in filth? [Titus 3:3-7]

It’s not enough to dry up the water, you need to get back all that was washed away. :P

Even if excommunicated, your baptism isn’t invalidated. It’s still there waiting for you to repent and is never repeated.
