Looking to Buy an Original Cranach? Here you go!
June 8th, 2011
Up for auction, estimated value: $110,000, titled, Lot and His Daughters. Here’s the link to the auction house. Cranach’s usually go for much more than their “estimated value.”

This painting reminds me of some of Cranach’s marriage paintings, which are obviously ironic. One was used at a marriage symposium at CTS in Ft. Wayne several years ago–I was amused that the Cranach painting on the brochure portrayed an obviously older, and lecherous looking, man together with a younger woman who had her hand in his money bag. Very amusing.
Beautiful. But since that’s valued at more than my condo is worth, I think I’ll have to pass!
I think I will try to find at least two of them. One for the parsonage and one for thechurch office. Course, I would have to save my salary for the next three years to buy it but ….

Artist life lesson: if you want your paintings to appreciate significantly in value, paint something other than the creepiest story in the entire Bible.
