I was looking for the app this morning. This Android user is very happy!
Is there anything in the Pastoral Care Companion that’s not in the app, or vice-versa? I intend to get it, but I was just wondering…
Not that I know of, no.
Paul, if you download these to your Android phone can you also download them to your Android tablet at no additional cost? I know this works on the iPhone and iPad but I’m not sure about Android devices. Thanks, I’m looking forward to having them!
Wow, cool! Any word on when these will be released for iOS? Sorry, had to chime in from the other side.
They already are both available in iOS, PrayNow has been available in iOS for perhaps a year now. You can find them in the iTunes store.
just bought the pray now app for my android phone..very nice!
Clint, the answer to that is yes. I have it working on my Transformer and my Nexus One right now.
Thanks for these digital versions. I hope they become available for Kindle Fire (which runs a modified android version) soon.
Amazon just informed us that the Android apps are live in their Android market, and they are now also evaluating them for their Kindle Android app marketplace. Keep looking for it there, should go live soon.
The App is available via several Android app marketplaces. I suggest you consult your user’s manual or contact your device manufacturer to learn how to load/use Android apps on it. We won’t be supporting individual devices, but simply releasing Android apps.
Right now my Galaxy Nexus says it isn’t compatible (not sure if that’s a GNex or a ICS issue). Looking forward to it coming out for my phone.
Phi, bad news…I just googled your device and found a number of links reporting pretty serious problems with it. You might want to consider getting a different device:

Android makes up over half the global market share of smartphone OS. Most of the problems I’ve had on Android devices seem to come from the customized hardware manufacturers’ UI modifications, not from Android itself.
I did consider getting an iPhone, but the unimpressive technology improvements on the 4S version that came out didn’t give me a reason to buy one. Even if the Galaxy Nexus has initial bugs, Google can and has pushed updates quickly.
Google is doing to Apple what Microsoft did to Apple. In the end, it’ll be a question of which approach wins out: regular, slow, consistent product launches or rapid, frequent, irregular product launches.
Sorry, not buying another device. The current alternatives don’t stack up.
Phil, please note I was not criticizing Android, simply sharing facts about how development for the Android platform works. Android 4.0 has issues and people need to be aware of this. We will not, at this point, be supporting a version of Android that less than 2 percent of the Android market. When that number increases, we surely will.
Phil, here are two articles that provide good information for when we are talking about developing, and supporting, Android OS systems:

Ok, is PastoralCare going to be available on the Kindle Fire?
Yes, as soon as Apple approves it for the Fire’s Android OS.
Happy Pastor.
