I have a cartoon in my pre-marital counseling resource file that shows a man and woman exchanging the following so-called “marriage” vows, “For better or for worse; for richer or for poorer; in sickness and in health; … ’til the going gets rough.” That’s from 20+ years ago. Hmmm. Quite prophetic, wasn’t it?
This is a tough topic for me, because I cohabitated with my wife for about 2 years before we got married. Because we have a great marriage and a great family, I often fall into the trap of saying “because it worked out well for me, it can’t be all that bad”. As such, I’ve had a hard time making a full and honest repentance of this. I know that just because a sin is”victimless” does not justify itself. I’m coming around. I am interested in your thoughts.
I would deal with it by going through private confession and absolution with your wife, together, confessing your sin and receiving Christ’s absolution and blessing on your marriage, and then move ahead trusting yourself into his care.
Unfortunately, it seems that is what to many people seem to hear when they take their marriage vows also.
“So long as this works out, so help me; me.” That sums it all up doesn’t it? Cohabitation is to nice of a word.

“Cohabitation”… I thought this YouTube was going to be about RC Nuns sharing their Habits. HA!
I know, I know… boo!

“Until something better comes along…”
The life philosophy of fallen humanity! And thus we are like waves tossed to and fro…
God have mercy!
Unfortunately, this is what most of my classmates would consider a “committed relationship.”
