I’ve got ‘that match’; and I’m looking forward to receiving my ‘Apocrypha’/Lutheran edition…but when will we see a Companion (commentary) for the now-5-ear-old Hymnal?
Some of us hymn-nuts are waiting so patiently…

Dumb question from an outside ignoramus – is the Lutheran Service Book just a hymnal with a fancy name? If not, what is it? I collect hymnals from various Protestant traditions, and if this is a hymnal, I might grab a copy.

Lutheran Service Book contains the liturgies, hymns, Psalms, canticles and many of the prayers used in the Divine Service at Lutheran congregations.
It is a “hymnal” but much more than that as well.
