Done! It’s on my Kindle! Thanks! I’m still planning to order the paper copy, too. With the interviews and reviews of this book, I’m rarin’ to read it!
By the way, I very recently finished the Kindle e-book, THE HUNGER GAMES TRILOGY; it took two months to read it. It gives a lot of food for thought and makes one think. I thought the ‘dystopian’ phrase meant debauched and “everything goes”, but it really means:
Definition of DYSTOPIA
1: an imaginary place where people lead dehumanized and often fearful lives
The books hooked me from the first few pages. The conditions of lack of human freedom reminded me in a way of the regimented and unfree world, Camazot, in A WINKLE IN TIME. The Hunger Games were utterly sick in their making entertainment of people’s deaths and broadcasting them as a television serial.
I admired people in the book who were willing and often did sacrifice their lives for the good of the people. Even though there’s no mention of Christianity in any form (which I wished there were along with the urge to tell the characters about the hope in Christ), Christian views of the uniqueness of each human being created in the image of God with each life of infinite worth shines throughout the books. The characters were very real in their humanity.
I’m glad I read the books even though the story line was often depressing with the characters having lost so much in terms of family and friends. The story continues to stay with me.
Thank you. Just purchased it.
P.S. I’ll comment on the Broken book a little later!
And with that announcement, my purchase has been made! (and on the same day that the new Reformation Heritage Commentary on Revelation arrived on my doorstep — a good day!!!)
